Movie Description:
Set
to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the
cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they
unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new
allies and fan-favourite characters from the classic comics will come to our
heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
My Review:
Our
favourite guardians are back for round 2 to defend the cosmos! More action, funkier
70s tunes and more Groot than ever before!
Let’s
start with the cast…WOW.
It
was fantastic to see the classic Guardians of the Galaxy come back for the
second instalment in this series! From Chris Pratt rocking it out to his Awesome
Mixtape #2 to the heated on-screen rivalry between Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan;
everything was twice as epic and twice as jam-packed full of energy!
As
much as I absolutely adored our Guardians, nothing could stop the all-powerful
forces of Kurt Russell’s character Ego and Elizabeth Debicki’s overruling Ayesha.
Not gonna lie, I can never look at Kurt Russell the same way again, that’s how
epic his performance was! These two were truly phenomenal and had me wanting to
see more of their stories – particularly Ayesha’s, however I have a feeling
more will be revealed in Vol. 3.
I
loved seeing Michael Rooker return as Yondu and create a special bond between
his character and Rocket voiced by the ever-talented Bradley Cooper. It truly
warmed my heart and tears were definitely shed in those small sweet moments.
And
how could I forget my – and probably everyone else’s – favourite character? Little
iddy biddy Baby Groot! He’s so small, powerful, adorable and he had the entire
cinema cracking up at those hilarious scenes between him and Rocket!
Real
talk though, can we take a minute to appreciate Baby Groot? I NEED A GROOT IN
MY LIFE
The
action in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
had certainly been raised since the first movie! Bigger space battles, freakier
monsters to fight and massive decisions that could either save the cosmos or
bring on an endless reign of universe-jeopardising peril. With all this action,
one always needs a killer soundtrack and director James Gunn did not fail to
pick some perfectly matched iconic 70s tunes to bring out the best in the
scenes. And even better, the music becomes a large part of the plot in the
film!
As
always when watching a Marvel movie, I went home that night and researched a
ton of theories about a particular character spoken of at the end of the
credits – don’t leave those seats early! You won’t want to miss this!
2017’s
first Marvel movie is undoubtedly one of the best sci-fi adventures you could
go on! I can hardly wait for Guardians of
the Galaxy Vol. 3 to hit cinemas – I need to know if my theories are right!
Have
you watched GOTG Vol. 2? What are
your theories? Tweet me @bookishbroadway – I’d love to hear your thoughts on
the movie and theories for Vol. 3!
Think
Lovely Thoughts xo
